“STOP CHANTING CM PUNK”
written by Dominick Cappello
It was a few weeks ago when fans chanted for CM Punk when Seth Rollins was giving us an update on his knee injury. It was so disrespectful. I usually defend the fans. It’s ridiculous when WWE blames the fans for bad storylines or questionable booking decisions. Okay, it’s fine if you want to chant for CM Punk in his hometown of Chicago, but that’s about it. Don’t bother chanting his name when Stephanie McMahon is in the ring because she’ll have a prepared comeback. She loves to zing the fans. Don’t chant his name during women’s or cruiserweight matches either. You’re only helping reinforce Vince McMahon’s perception that women and cruiserweights are second class citizens when compared to the bodybuilders he’s madly in love with… cough… John Cena… cough… Roman Reigns. I see that CM Punk fanboys and fangirls are still griping on social media about him losing the WWE Championship to The Rock at Royal Rumble 2013. Just a friendly reminder that The Rock was a pillar of The Attitude Era and one of the reasons WWE won the Monday Night War. So, I’d say he deserved the WWE Championship far more than CM Punk deserved an opportunity in UFC. Sorry fanboys and fangirls, but you can’t be hypocrites. You can’t complain about The Rock returning to WWE, but then say it’s irrelevant that CM Punk didn’t pay his dues in the world of MMA. For the record, I’m not a huge CM Punk fan. Not so much for his awful version of a flying elbow drop, but because I think he’s a condescending prick. Anyone who doesn’t kiss his ass has an “agenda” according to him. He was WWE Champion for 14 months. That’s nothing to be a whiney bitch about. On the other hand, I love how he refused a WrestleMania match with Triple H. The look on Triple H’s face must have been priceless. Also, WWE sending him his termination papers on his wedding day was beyond messed up. Even as a non CM Punk fan, I’ll admit as such. WWE has been overly bitter towards him. Nikki Bella breaking AJ Lee’s record as the longest reigning Diva’s Champion was simply to spite her for marrying CM Punk. So, you know what? Instead of chanting his name, the next time they laughably give Nikki Bella credit for the women’s revolution, how about you chant for AJ Lee?
