“FINN’S NOT OVER?”
by Dominick Cappello
Okay, I have no idea if Vince McMahon truly believes that Finn Balor isn’t “over” enough to have a match with Brock Lesnar at the 2018 Royal Rumble. Maybe it’s just rumor and innuendo? I don’t believe everything I read. That being said, no one can deny that Finn Balor has been underutilized in 2017. I remember Monday Night RAW after WrestleMania and fans chanting “We Want Balor!” while Paul Heyman cut a promo about how Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns was the match everyone is dying to see. I admit that Roman Reigns gets a lot of unwarranted hate, but he is the chosen one. A grand slam champion as of this past week who has been passed the torch by both The Undertaker and John Cena. This isn’t going to be an article bashing Roman Reigns. I’ll just refer you to Diesel’s 1995 title run as an example of Vince McMahon favoring those who are tall, dark, and handsome. Meanwhile, Finn Balor is floundering. Since returning from shoulder injury, he HASN’T gotten a rematch for the Universal Championship, he HASN’T gotten revenge on Seth Rollins for injuring him. He has however been part of a feud with Bray Wyatt which would have culminated with Bray becoming a little ghost girl had an illness not put a kybosh on those plans. So, I’m not saying that Finn Balor isn’t over, but if he isn’t over as much as he should be, it’s the fault of WWE for not doing anything with him. Heck, if he was meant to be the #1 contender for Brock Lesnar, why wasn’t he the last man standing at Survivor Series 2017 instead of the almighty Triple H?
